I am a painter/printmaker. Originally from Hertfordshire, I began my art training at the Herts College of Art and Design, in St Albans; then went on to study photography and print-making in Brighton, which I did not complete. I left art college to go into TV production, continuing to produce my artwork alongside my technical career.
I fell in love with Norfolk when I was 9, and have lived here with my husband Krys since 1995. It has been an inspiring place to live and work, with history, landscape, the big Norfolk skies and the lives of working people as starting points for artwork.
There is no one theme, nor do I have any fixed approach to my work. My interests are varied - from wildlife, old family photos, to places I have visited or the plants I grow in the garden. The media I use for each idea and finished piece reflects this eclectic mix.
I was drawn to printmaking as a way of exploring how to incorporate texture into my graphic style. I work mainly in collagraph, etching, drypoint and monoprint - whatever seems appropriate for the end result.
Increasingly I am interested in mixing media, layering various textures and elements for specific effect. Felt-making, paper-making and beach-finds are especially useful.
I exhibit mainly with the Norwich Print Fair, which is held every September in St Benedict's Street, and open my studio for the annual Norfolk and Norwich Open Studio scheme in May.
